Strait of Hormuz Tensions Escalate as Iran Declares Expanded Maritime Authority
The Strait of Hormuz has now emerged as the flashpoint for escalation of military conflicts after the formation of the newly established Persian Gulf Strait Authority of Iran, which has declared that military control over an area of 22,000 sq kilometers is theirs. Although Iran insists on the requirement for all traffic passing through it to be approved by it, both America and UAE have refused such claims and stated that their demands are nothing but dream pieces. The conflict between the two countries has escalated due to the US embargo on the harbors of Iran causing boarding of the Celestial Sea and Iranian punishments from the IRGC on commercial vessels.
